When individuals combine their unique strengths, talents, compassion, and dedication, the result is transformative. That is what happens at Synergy AZ every single day—we work hand-in-hand with our members to build a stronger, more inclusive community.

Our logo, the Phoenix, is a symbol of hope, resilience, renewal, and transformation. Throughout history, the legend of the Phoenix reminds us that strength and new beginnings arise from challenges. At Synergy AZ, Tucson, AZ, we witness this powerful transformation daily as our members build confidence, discover new abilities, and embrace their full potential.

OUR ROOTS & PURPOSE

Our Story & Mission

Founded in 2024 by Tucson siblings Bernadette, Melissa, Regina, and Mike Acedo, Synergy AZ was created from a shared vision: to build far more than a standard adult day activity program. We set out to cultivate a vibrant community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are empowered to discover their purpose, forge meaningful relationships, and live every day with dignity, joy, and independence.

Rooted in the values passed down by our parents—kindness, compassion, service, gratitude, and integrity—we operate on the principle that these values must guide every decision, relationship, and interaction.

Exceptional care begins with exceptional people. We know that our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and staff are vital to our mission.

We foster a supportive workplace culture where kindness, empathy, and mutual respect are practiced at every level. By valuing, respecting, and appreciating our team, we empower them to deliver the compassionate, person-centered care that truly transforms lives.

GUIDING VISION

Leadership Bernadette Acedo-Ford, MPH

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Bernadette Acedo-Ford brings a rich background in public health leadership, a passion for service, and a commitment to empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She holds a Master of Public Health Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from the University of Arizona.

With over ten years of experience collaborating with the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), support coordinators, members, and families, Bernadette built Synergy AZ on the pillars of integrity, authenticity, and respect.

Together with her siblings, Bernadette leads Synergy AZ with a mission to offer enriching, purposeful experiences that foster independence, growth, and lasting confidence.
